John has a rich history in the pool industry that spans over four decades. His journey began in 1979 during his junior year of high school when he joined a company specializing in Concrete (Gunite) swimming pools and later transitioned to managing the retail operation. In the late ’80s, John secured a dream sales job with Polynesian Pools, a company renowned for its high-output operation, building up to 250 Vinyl-lined pools annually.
Leaving Polynesian Pools, John followed a superintendent to a start-up, doubling pool construction for two consecutive years. Despite financial challenges, the company thrived, reaching 150 pools a year. In 2005, John founded his own company, Resort Pools & Fences, focusing on Vinyl-lined Pools and expanding services to include fences. The real estate crash in 2006-2008 posed challenges, but John’s commitment and resilience allowed him to continue providing outstanding service to this day.
The Vinyl-lined pool, with its flexibility in design, non-porous finish, and ease of maintenance, remains the preferred choice. Resort Pools & Fences, a Class A contracting company, owns equipment, digs pools, and handles the entire process without subcontractors. With a hands-on approach, John personally initiates projects, ensuring a seamless customer experience. His sketches serve as working plans, and the continuity of customer discussions is maintained from inception to completion. John’s brother-in-law, Michael Gama, is the superintendent and pool builder. He has built every single pool since the inception of the company in 2005. Michael has also done all of the underground plumbing for every pool to ensure water-tight plumbing. He along with the loyal team of 9 employees, all with years of experience, ensure consistency and quality.
As Resort Pools & Fences catches up from the COVID rush, John seeks to expand the service area and reconnect with past clients through a referral campaign.
